A friend of mine believes Sri Lanka is the best Asian team in ODIs based on their performances in Australia this year, and the fact that they've played three world cup finals like India. However, when I did some statsguru search, I found that Sri Lanka is the worst, barring Bangladesh. Also India and Pakistan have been fairly equal, however, Pakistan's overall record in ODIs edges them ahead of India.
According to Usman, Australian tours are arguably the toughest, so the ranking should be based on performances on Australian tours. The following stats, therefore, are based on Asian teams' performances against all teams in Australia, against Australia in Australia and against Australia overall. The rankings are based on win/loss ratio:

The table shows that Pakistan and India have done equally well against Australia in ODIs and Sri Lanka are pretty close too. However, Pakistan have done a lot better against Australia in Australia, than the other two. Also Pakistan's record is second against all teams (including Australia) in Australia.
The win/loss ratio doesn't take into account the ties and the no-results. If it did, Pakistan would be 1st on two of the above lists, and 2nd on the third. Even without this effect, Pakistan is still in the top two in all three tables.
Also Pakistan have the second most number of wins in ODIs after Australia, and the third best win/loss ratio among major nations, behind only South Africa and Australia. Pakistan have 1+ win/loss ratio against both India and Sri Lanka showing they win against them more than they lose.
And if you think that Pakistan's ratios are better because they play against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe more often than the others, then here is a reminder: Pakistan have lost only twice against Zimbabwe in 44 matches giving them a win loss ratio of 20 against them. The corresponding stats for India are 10 losses in 51 games, giving them a win loss ratio of just 3.90. Against Bangladesh, Pakistan have lost once in 29 matches, India have lost 3 in 24 matches.
So clearly, Pakistan is the best among the Asian teams in ODIs, at least statistically.
